If you are a British Citizen, you need to be aware of the corruption and discrimination within the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in London, especially within "Consular Services" section; the Government Department that is not (it claims it is an "independent / autonomous body", I am sure for legal reasons), which is meant to help you and your family if you get into trouble overseas, or not help you if you do not have status or connections.
Warning: Consular assistance for you overseas is purely discretionary. No matter what the FCO say in their "Support for British nationals abroad: a guide"; go to page four and read what it says "Generally, there is no legal right to consular assistance. All assistance provided is at our discretion."
OK if you are a member of the royal family. OK if you have connections. But if you are a normal everyday UK citizen, look out. Also be aware, FCO staff are exceptionally well paid, get very generous benefits (including free private schooling for their children; clearly they are too good for public schools like us). Be aware that FCO staff are not underpaid public sector nurses, care workers, etc., not by a long shot. Oh no, they literally have champagne lifestyles and are part of the vile Victorian era class system / suppression, as you will find out below.
I want to tell you the story of my family, British citizens, how we were subject to extreme human rights abuse in a fellow EU member state, where I pleaded for help for my children, British citizens, where Fair Trials even emailed the FCO, where I / my family were the subject of several European Court of Human Rights processes including two Interim Measure applications (used only for the most severe cases), and Consular Services of the FCO not only ignored us, my poor children, but filed a criminal complaint against me with the Metropolitan Police for harassment when I lawfully complained about the conduct of their Special Needs manager (but they did this only after we had fled to the UK, only once the FCO knew we could be afflicted by their corrupt Metropolitan Police friends as we were then under UK jurisdiction).

Pleas for help to Philip Hammond (then Foreign Secretary) and then Boris Johnson (replacement Foreign Secretary) were ignored, as were letters from two MP's trying to help us (that's right, neither Philip Hammond nor Boris Johnson cared enough, had enough manners to even reply to two fellow MP's). The reason the FCO filed a UK police complaint against me was not for harassment, but to shut me up, to prevent highly embarrassing information coming into the public domain. You see, when the FCO Consular Services manager was forced to respond to me (I used an official complaints channel), when they wrote to me basically ignoring everything I had said / asked for (not even mentioning my children) and telling me to go away, on the same day they wrote to me, they were actually at an afternoon champagne event in a West End Bar.
I complained about their conduct (criminal corruption: criminal neglect / abuse of public office) to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and was promised an investigation, but that never happened; oh no! Instead they compiled and fabricated a police complaint against me for harassment which ensured that I would be warned by the nasty, equally corrupt Metropolitan Police's Serious Crime Squad, not to publish the data as it would be considered further harassment, for which I would be arrested (again) and prosecuted; me, a documented human rights victim simply trying to get consular assistance for my two abused British children.
So, I am publishing the facts anyway despite the Metropolitan Police's warning not to, but without mentioning this FCO Consular Services manager's name. I am also publishing the photo of her at the champagne bar (face disguised) as this is clearly in the public best interest.
I have not only filed the original FCO complaint against this Consular Services manager with the FCO but also the police, for all the good it did me. No investigation. No explanation of why this FCO manager was out guzzling champagne instead of working, instead of protecting my British children from human rights abuse overseas.
If you are (only) a regular British citizen, be warned of the nasty class system inherent in the FCO that will deny your legal rights abroad, and at home.
